Our licensed Child Care Center provides a warm, friendly and safe place for children to play and learn. Children are respected and encouraged to make their own decisions. They learn to express themselves in a positive manner verbally and physically. We encourage their creativity and their individuality and strive to meet each child's needs in a nurturing environment.

• The staff has developed a curriculum to challenge the minds of the children.

• Our center provides a secure, fenced in outside play area.

• Our child care center serves children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.

•The school age program serves children enrolled in kindergarten through age 12.

All COI child care teachers are CPR/AED certified and have completed first aid, SIDS, child abuse and neglect, and shaken baby syndrome training.

Green Lake Staff
Barb Long is the assistant director of the Green Lake Center and opens the center. She has over 20 years of experience in child care, and has been with COI since 1994. Barbara has completed her Child Development Credential (CDA) specializing in infant and toddler care. Her continuing education includes supporting children with special health care needs, multi-cultural curriculum, WI Model Early Learning Standards, and infant massage. Barbara is the team leader for COI’s food service program and assures that our children have tasty and satisfying meals and snacks which also meet the detailed USDA food requirements.
Tammy Krentz currently works with the two and three year olds. She has over 30 years of child care experience and has been with COI since 1988. Tammy has worked with children of all ages and ability levels throughout her teaching career. Her continuing education interests include language development, promoting self-esteem, managing asthma and allergies, and autism. Tammy now works part time for COI as she pursues other interests, but gives 100% during those part time hours. She continues to meet child care licensing inservice requirements.
Dawn Schaefer has worked for COI since 2003 and assists with all age groups, opening and closing, and supports each classroom teacher's lesson plans. Dawn has taken a wide variety of in-service topics, and is up to date on CPR/AED/First Aid, and food program training requirements. Dawn has completed the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards through UW-Milwaukee and has the knowledge and skills to be our backup cook for the USDA food program. Dawn is currently enrolled in a 3 credit Child Development Class at Moraine Park Technical College.
Kimberly Krentz completed the licensing requirements to be a teacher in March of 2017 and has been with COI since August of 2015. In addition to basic class requirements, Kimberly completed the Strengthening Families training through Child Care Resource and Referral, Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards through UW-Milwaukee and is part of our Breast Feeding Friendly initiative. Kimberly is currently enrolled in a 3 credit Child Development Class at Moraine Park Technical College.
Kayla Gunderson, a licensed social worker joined COI's child care staff in February of 2017 and continues to work individually with older children as part of our youth mentoring program. Kayla has recently earned her Registry Level 12 and works primarily with school age children afternoons until closing.
